What is Standard Form?
Standard Form, also known as scientific notation, is a way of expressing numbers that are too big or too small to be conveniently written in decimal form. It has the form $$a \times 10^{b}$$ where \(a\) is a number greater than or equal to 1 and less than 10, and \(b\) is an integer.
For example, the standard form of 123,000,000 is \(1.23 \times 10^8\), and the standard form of 0.0000456 is \(4.56 \times 10^{-5}\). Standard form is widely used in science, engineering, and mathematics to simplify the representation and manipulation of very large and very small numbers.
